IAAPA Takes Safety Education on the Road in 2010

Alexandria, Virginia (United States) – On the heels of success in 2008 and 2009, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) expands its Safety Institutes program in 2010, with stops in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and the United States. Operators, developers, and government officials are invited to learn from industry experts as they discuss how to achieve safety excellence in the attractions industry.

“IAAPA has always been committed to safety and fostering member education, which is why it’s exciting to expand our safety education efforts this year, and address region-specific issues,” said Charles Bray, President and CEO of IAAPA. “Participants at the Safety Institutes will truly benefit from the speakers’ industry experience and the focus on best practices.”

The following Safety Institutes are planned for 2010:
IAAPA Safety Institute at Fun Expo International
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States – March 11
As part of the education program during Fun Expo International, IAAPA will host a half day of safety education at the Las Vegas Convention Center. IAAPA is a co-sponsor of the trade show and conference, which takes place March 7 – 12. More information for Fun Expo can be found at www.funexpo.com.

IAAPA Safety Institute in the People’s Republic of China
Beijing, P.R. China – March 12
The half-day institute will be held in partnership with the China Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (CAAPA) during its annual Expo at the Beijing Exhibition Center, and includes collaboration with the China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute (CSEI) and the General Administration of Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ).

IAAPA Middle East Safety Institute
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – March 15
For the third consecutive year, the IAAPA Middle East Safety Institute will cover best safety practices and allow attendees to share their own experiences through a combination of roundtable discussions, lectures, and networking opportunities.

IAAPA Safety Institute in India
Mumbai, India – March 17
In partnership with the Indian Association of Amusement Parks and Industries (IAAPI) and its annual Expo, the Institute offers participants a full day covering safety standards compliance and operations and maintenance safety for amusement parks and waterparks.

IAAPA Safety Conference
Bogotá, Colombia – April 19 – 20
The Safety Institute will be held in conjunction with the annual conference for the Colombian Parks and Attractions Association (ACOLAP).
IAAPA Latin American Safety Institute
Buenos Aires, Argentina – May 21
The Safety Institute will follow the Latin American Institute for Executive Education, which takes place May 17 – 20 in Buenos Aires.

IAAPA Safety Institute in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – July 13
The fourth Safety Institute will kick off the education conference at IAAPA’s annual Asian Attractions Expo.
IAAPA is also planning Safety Institutes and education sessions during the week of Euro Attractions Show 2010 (EAS), which takes place in Rome, Italy from Oct. 6 – 8, and IAAPA Attractions Expo 2010, which takes place in Orlando, Florida, from Nov. 15 – 19.
