Theme Parks: Wild Adventures making big plans for 2010

Monday, October 12th, 2009 | Permalink

The park plans the addition of three new rides for 2010, said Micha Hogan, a Wild Adventures spokesperson. These rides come from Celebration City, a Branson, Mo., park that closed this year. Herschend Family Entertainment owns both parks.

These rides include a Scrambler, a flying scooter attraction, and a family roller coaster. This will be the park’s eighth roller coaster, Hogan said.

Wild Adventures also plans scheduling 20 concerts for 2010. The park has already released the names of four bands and acts returning to Wild Adventures. These concerts are REO Speedwagon and Styx, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Third Day.

On Independence Day, the park plans continuing its tradition of a spectacular fireworks show along with thrilling summer entertainment. This year the park has scheduled motorcycle daredevil Kaptain Robbie Knievel, son of the legendary Evel Knievel. Robbie Knievel will attempt to jump Wild Adventures’ lake.

The park is already offering 2010 passes with special deals, Hogan said. Visitors can purchase a Season Pass for $59.99, plus tax, in October and upgrade it to a Gold Pass for no additional charge. The 2010 pass can be used as soon as it is purchased — meaning it is good for the remainder of 2009 and all of 2010.

Themed design: Clostermann Design’s Alien Idol – Successful Premiere at EAS ’09

Thursday, October 8th, 2009 | Permalink

The stage and the microphone were all set at EAS where Clostermann Design presented its new attraction “Alien Idol” to the visiting attraction professionals. Modeled after the famous superstar TV shows, “Alien Idol” asks spirited singers to prove their talent in front of three grouchy Alien animatronics.

After every performance, the relentless remarks are headed by the tight-lipped and rigorous toad lady who is all too often skipping her colleagues’ more favorable comments in Alien tongue.

“Alien Idol drew a lot of attention at the fair“, says Matthias Clostermann, CEO of Clostermann Design. “Everybody took a closer look, when our Aliens invited the crowd to sing, although only a few brave ones did actually sing with us.”

The attraction is clearly aimed at the event industry and people will eventually set aside their reserve, when they are celebrating in bars and discos. The concept convinced and despite rather slow traffic in the halls, Clostermann Design, Matthias Clostermann evaluates the fair as a success: “We showed once again that Clostermann Design is making the transition from theming provider to turnkey attraction designer.”
